Details of Award:
The “Rocketeer” will be awarded, and passed from winner to winner each year. Some people in Mojave call that a “perpetual award….”
The “Rocketeer” will be presented at the RARA awards banquet along with all the other goodies each year to the aircraft that exhibits the largest qualIfying speed increase from one year to the next. This making the “Rocketeer”† up for grabs by any plane in the Reno field. The “Rocketeer” will remain in possession†of the winner for the year. A plaque will be engraved with the winner’s name, and placed on the “Rocketeer” providing a long term history of Class Rocketeers.
The “Rocketeer” is a limited edition hand formed brass replica of the helmet created for the Disney movie The Rocketeer. It’s an AWESOME movie about race planes, and, a guy with a rocket pack strapped to his back. It is very cool!
